Annotated screenshots that say “click here”, in order
Capturing, cropping, numbering and blurring screenshots by hand is the slow part. ScreenMate does the capturing and gives you the tools for the rest.
Annotation tools
- Click marker — placed automatically where you clicked; hide it if you don’t need it.
- Numbered markers — click to drop a 1, 2, 3; they renumber when you delete one.
- Arrows, highlight boxes and text notes — drag to draw or click to type; pick a colour per annotation, drag anything to move it, and undo with Ctrl+Z.
- Redaction and blur — drag over the private part and apply. Redaction paints solid blocks, blur turns the area into a coarse mosaic; in both cases the pixels are replaced and the original is deleted from your device and from our storage, so it cannot be undone or peeled off.
- Crop — keep only the part of the screenshot that matters. Markers inside the crop move with it; the rest of the image is deleted the same way.
Where the screenshots go
Screenshots are compressed on your computer and kept in your browser until you save the guide to your account. In your account they are stored privately and served through expiring links; a guide shared with “anyone with the link” mints a fresh link for each viewer session, and revoking the guide link stops new ones.
Exports (PDF and Markdown) render the annotations into the image, so what you see in the editor is what the reader gets.
